Tutoring Experience

I have taught many students over the last four years, both online and in person, in Chemistry, Maths and University admissions tests. I have successfully aided students in improving their personal statements, primarily for applications in Medicine, but also including other STEM and Humanities subjects.

I enjoy teaching students and imparting my knowledge into others; it is a rewarding venture. I have also helped young students improve in their Maths and English at a young age. Furthermore, during my school times, I would frequently mentor younger students in Chemistry and Maths.

Tutoring Approach

My tutoring method varies depending on student and subject. I prefer to have a short conversation with students before lessons start to identify the preferred methods and to begin the start of a relationship between the student that strives towards success.

My methods tend to incorporate a lot of interactivity with the student. Despite having lesson plans, my lessons are always based around the students’ requirements and level. I will adapt accordingly, through the use of questions throughout the lessons and continuous repetition to ensure understanding.
I also provide resources for students to test themselves separately for us to go through in following lessons.

With admissions tests and university applications, my approach varies slightly. These lessons veer towards a lot of review and conversational types of teaching. With admissions tests, I would give students tips on how to approach different types of questions in the most efficient manner.

Personal statements and interview preparation would require a discussion with students on the best ways to write and speak about experiences. I will do mock interviews with students, also directing them to read up on specific journals and areas of medicine.
