Tutoring Experience

My name is Yevheniia, and I am from Ukraine.

However, the last 5 years I have spent in Denmark and China. I am interested in International Relations, and now pursuing this path on a Dual Bachelor Program between Columbia University and SciencesPo. So, I have been exposed to various educational systems, starting from strict post-soviet type in Ukraine to a more liberal yet still challenging IB program.

I hope to work in international relations, and thus much of my activities have been targeted in that direction. For example, I am currently learning my 5th language - French; I love living for a long time in a new country; I have interned and volunteered at organizations like PACT, Danish Refugee Council and more.

I have been a personal tutor since 2018, when I started teaching English as a Second Language for adults and teenagers. During those 3 years, I have also prepared multiple students for final IB examinations in History, Math IA and AA SL, Spanish ab initio and Extended Essay, as well as supported 2 students in their successful applications to Washington&Lee and Columbia University. Other than that, my tutoring experience includes:

- Volunteering as a mentor in non-profit Ukraine Global Scholars that helps Ukrainian seniors in college applications to the United States

- Tutoring English as a Second Language in English to The East for teenagers in occupied areas of Ukraine

- Developing a 3-months English learning course for IT specialists, as well as learning-plan for History HL for IB2 students

Tutoring Approach

In my approach to tutoring, I strive to create an interactive and engaging learning experience for my students.

Recognizing the tremendous value of education, I firmly believe that tutoring is an impactful way to make a positive difference in the world, particularly within the subjects that ignite my passion.

Over the past three years, I have actively pursued tutoring opportunities in various settings, including non-profit organizations, schools, and the IT sector. By employing an interactive tutoring style, I encourage active participation, discussion, and hands-on learning.

I understand that fostering a collaborative environment allows students to develop a deeper understanding of the material and cultivates their curiosity and critical thinking skills. Through my interactive approach, I aim to inspire and empower students, helping them unlock their full potential and facilitating their academic growth in a meaningful way.
