Tutoring Experience

With over 15 years of international experience in IB schools across three continents, I bring a wealth of expertise to the field of education. My journey has encompassed roles as a college English and Communications lecturer, and as the head of an English department at a prestigious IB World School in Europe.

Currently, I contribute as an active IB Diploma Examiner, specializing in IBDP English A across Language and Literature (HL/SL), Literature (HL/SL), and the Extended Essay (in all three categories). Additionally, I am TESOL certified and skilled in lecturing on IELTS, CAE, and FCE preparation courses.

My experience extends to online tutoring with EtonX, the digital branch of the renowned Eton College. Here, I specialize in courses designed to equip students with future-ready skills, such as Critical Thinking, Entrepreneurship, Making an Impact, and Creative Planning.

As a literature and writing aficionado, I possess comprehensive knowledge in essay composition - from meticulous research and accurate sourcing to structuring arguments and ensuring their coherent presentation. My role as an IB Diploma examiner affords me unique insights into the nuances of crafting the ideal IB Extended Essay and acing the IB English A Literature exam.

Furthermore, as an alumnus of a globally top-20 ranked university, I have a deep understanding of the admissions criteria for elite institutions. This experience has been instrumental in guiding numerous students through their admission essays and interviews, successfully securing their places at leading North American and European universities.

My expertise is not just in teaching but in empowering students to excel in their academic pursuits and achieve their aspirations of studying at top-tier universities.

Tutoring Approach

My approach is student-centred, which means that I specifically tailor my lessons to meet the individual needs of each student. While the goals of my students may be the same—for instance, to receive a great score on an IB Literature exam or Extended Essay—no two students will take the same path towards achieving these goals.

My approach entails identifying both the strengths and the weaknesses of each student. This allows me to get a better sense of how I can best serve them as their tutor, and it is on this basis that I subsequently work on creating an individual plan for each student I work with, thus ensuring that their goals are successfully met.
