Vanessa
Cambridge University - BA Law
As a final-year law student at the University of Cambridge, I am passionate about tutoring. I hold a firm belief that education should be a rich, enjoyable, and personalized experience. To date, I have had the privilege of assisting more than 50 students, finding each hour spent with them to be immensely fulfilling and rewarding. I am convinced that every student harbours untapped potential, and I aim to guide them on their journey to realizing it.

Personally Interviewed
Our tutors go through a rigorous selection process, having been interviewed to assess their teaching skills and subject knowledge. They have extensive tutoring experience with a track record of success, helping students achieve their academic goals.
Tutoring Experience
Throughout my tutoring career, I have worked extensively with students aiming for Oxbridge admissions. I review their applications, guide them through the admissions process, and provide valuable feedback on interview performances, witnessing their growth and success.
Along with Oxbridge admissions, I specialize in tutoring various law subjects, including LNAT preparation and areas like Contract Law, Constitutional Law, and Tort Law, helping students grasp complex legal concepts.
I have dedicated over two years to tutoring a wide range of academic subjects, such as A-level Maths, Psychology, Biology, EPQ, and GCSEs. By tailoring my teaching methods to individual needs, I foster a positive learning environment for academic growth and confidence. Beyond individual sessions, I have collaborated with reputable educational institutions like the Linacre Institute, contributing knowledge and expertise to their programs.
Tutoring Approach
I will tailor my approach to each individual student, understanding their strengths and weaknesses.
Oxbridge admissions
Initial consultation: providing insight into the Oxbridge admission process, consultation on college choice (and explanation of the ‘chance’ variation between colleges), identifying the student’s needs, strengths, and weaknesses.
Plan: devising an ‘action-plan’ (ie: reading list) for the student to work towards in securing an interview and an offer, alongside identifying the aims of each tutoring session I will provide
Personal statement: extensive and constant support on each draft of personal statement, from first to last draft (or as required). Support on restructuring, content and overall cohesiveness. This will be the student’s work and I will guide them thoroughly, providing feedback on every draft with detailed comments and suggestions.
Mock interviews: using questions that are based on previous questions posed in actual Cambridge interviews, providing extensive feedback. I will help with crafting ‘model’ answers to typical questions that may arise, tailored to the student’s experiences and making the most of their unique points to ensure they stand out. I will ensure their structure is appropriate and guide them to be comfortable and confident.
Lectures/supervision style lessons: teaching certain topics from the Cambridge law syllabus in order to widen the perspective of the student and to make them stand out in the interview, as well as gain a better understanding of the course, using real questions from Cambridge supervisions
Current/relevant legal news that can be used in the interview: increasing their commercial awareness of the world, which is crucial for the interviews
Testimonials
“...I would 100% recommend her tutoring because it ensured that nothing was unexpected in the actual interview and I could feel like I was prepared for anything”
Megan, interview offer from Trinity Hall, Cambridge
“I found that the personalized and specific feedback enabled me to pinpoint the areas that needed changing. Rather than rewriting it for me, Vanessa pointed me in the right direction and allowed me to come up with my own ideas”
Harry, A-level student, secured offer for law at Clare college Cambridge
“I definitely grew a lot more confident, because Nessa was really patient and encouraging! I was really confused at the beginning… There was a lot to cover (from international law to criminal law to property law and so on) and definitely a lot to learn, but Nessa made it really easy for me, who has absolutely no prior knowledge of Law before”
Hailey, interview offer from Peterhouse College, Cambridge
