Tutoring Experience

I have extensive experience teaching mathematics in both English and Russian, including two years with the Math-m-Addicts program in NYC, summer camps, and a semester as a Math Department tutor at NYU, where I received glowing reviews. I am proficient in teaching all school-level mathematics, excluding advanced statistics, and can also cover university-level topics up to the first two years, including Geometry, Algebra, Discrete Math, and Calculus I-III. With personal experience studying and taking A-Levels, SAT/ACT, GRE, GRE Mathematics, and IB, I bring a deep understanding of these curricula and exams, tailoring my teaching to help students excel.

Tutoring Approach

I start by discussing their experiences with math, assessing their strengths and areas for improvement, and reviewing exercises or exam-focused questions to gauge their understanding. From there, I tailor lessons to their needs, ensuring the material is relevant and engaging. I also strive to connect math concepts to the student’s interests and future aspirations, keeping them motivated and fostering a genuine appreciation for the subject.

During sessions, I emphasize active participation through problem-solving, quizzes, and open discussions where students feel comfortable making mistakes and learning from them. I guide them in applying formulas and concepts to build confidence and develop practical skills. I believe in balancing focus with breaks to prevent overload and maintain productivity. I use a combination of textbooks, curated exercises, and videos to enhance learning and keep lessons dynamic. Above all, I ensure that students are actively involved, speaking and reasoning through problems, as this interactive approach is key to their understanding and success.
