Tutoring Experience

I have 2+ years of tutoring at my university’s Tutoring Center. I’ve worked with students in-person and online, and in one-on-one and group settings. I also have experience working with K-12 students in informal and formal tutoring settings, including children with autism and ADHD.

Tutoring Approach

The MCAT is a difficult exam; we all know that. I believe that familiarizing yourself with the format and mindset the writers have is just as important as content review. I would work reasoning skills into every study plan early on, and encourage students to explain their thought process aloud when answering practice problems.

This approach works well in Biology and Chemistry classes as well. I like to use visual aids – diagrams, color coding, and labelling – when helping students go through their notes and make study guides. When people are able to picture the sciences coming to life, concepts often become more digestible.
