I have 13 years of teaching experience directly in the classroom. For the past 8 years I have taught students in an International school setting within the IGCSE and IB/A-Level framework. I am very proud of the results my IB and IGCSE students get from my classroom teaching (many achieve Level 9 IGCSE or Level 7 in IB HL) but I get equal pleasure from helping students to engage and fall in love with Chemistry (as it’s really the best subject!).

Tutoring Experience

Being a dyslexic learner myself, and having worked in diverse schools in Manchester at the beginning of my training, I have a good range of experience of working with students who struggle to retain information, or those who need it broken down in a more manageable way.

I first started tutoring in Manchester during my PGCE (I qualified in 2011 and have my NQT status) and really enjoyed the one to one benefit of building a relationship with students and seeing them grow in confidence. I now do this within my classroom.

Having taught since 2010 I am used to working with a range of learners, including those who find Chemistry (and the Sciences) a challenge and I relish the opportunity to help students feel more secure in their subject and get to their end goal.

Tutoring Approach

Having developed my teaching style over the years I am able to spot where students need support and provide lots of scaffolding for them to get there.

I have experience teaching thousands of students in Biology, Chemistry and Physics and enjoy watching students learn and develop their skills.

I am used to working with students who have high aspirations. Part of my role that I enjoy most is being able to give them ideas about future jobs / career pathways as well as University courses as many of my students have received places to go to Oxford/Cambridge/Harvard etc.
