Tutoring Experience

I have 11 years of teaching experience, having worked in three different schools in the United Kingdom and Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Additionally, I bring 8 years of experience as an examiner with Cambridge International, where I have assessed GCSE and IGCSE papers.

In addition to my teaching and examining roles, I have dedicated 6 years to providing private tuition for international school students. I joined the IB examining team in March 2021.

Throughout my teaching journey, I have had the privilege of working with students from around the world, catering to various skill levels and backgrounds. Many of my former students have successfully pursued higher education in the United States, United Kingdom, Canada, Malaysia, and Europe. I am also proficient in assisting students with AP-level English.

Beyond academics, my experience as a Head of Year reflects my commitment to pastoral care. I am passionate about inclusive education and am well-equipped to support students with diverse needs, including those with learning difficulties, English as an Additional Language (EAL) requirements, and social and emotional challenges.

Tutoring Approach

My approach to tuition is offering personalised, bespoke sessions that stretch and challenge, encourage curiosity and foster both independence and a genuine love of learning.

Ideally sessions are one hour in length, with clear learning outcomes decided at the beginning. A firm believer in the science of learning and promoting a culture of thinking, I adopt retrieval and spaced practice strategies to ensure that learning is deep and meaningful.

Diagnostic questioning and afl is used as a tool throughout the session and over time to ensure understanding is solid and that progress is being made rapidly.
