Tutoring Experience

I am a qualified and experienced school and college Maths Lecturer with a degree in Mathematics. My passion for helping students reach their fullest potential is reflected in the excellent grades they achieve. At my previous school, over 70% of my A-Level Maths and Further Maths students earned A-A* grades, demonstrating my ability to meet and exceed departmental targets. Additionally, I have successfully improved the grades of my private tutees from C/D to A/A*.

After completing my PGCE in Maths, I was recruited by a Maths and Science specialist school, where I introduced and designed the curriculum for A-Level Further Maths and helped students achieve the highest grades in the school's history. At my current college, I have been entrusted with teaching the most challenging levels of Maths and preparing selected students for Oxbridge entrance exams, as well as A-Level Maths, Physics, and Further Maths. I also designed the comprehensive scheme of work for both Maths and Further Maths for the 2017 specification.

Since 2021, I have worked with a tutoring organization where I was selected to teach the most challenging levels of A-Level Maths, GCSE, and KS3 to both exceptionally bright and SEN students. I have prepared students for Oxbridge entrance exams and identified key areas of focus for KS4 students struggling with mathematical concepts. On average, our students achieved two grades higher than their school-predicted grades.

From 2018 to 2021, at another college, I primarily prepared and delivered lessons for A/S Physics, A/S and A-Level Maths, and Further Maths, covering modules such as Pure Maths 1 and 2, Statistics, Mechanics, Further Maths (Core 1 and 2), Further Statistics, Decision Maths, and Level 3 Quantitative Methods. I also taught GCSE Maths to Year 10 and 11 students, ensuring they learned each topic thoroughly and testing them with end-of-topic assessments to identify and address gaps in their understanding. I utilized a variety of resources and teaching strategies to keep lessons engaging and conducted regular reviews to target students' weak areas. Additionally, I provided extra maths sessions in my own time and maintained regular communication with parents, attending three parents' evenings in the current academic year. I also took three CPD sessions focused on the new A-Level specification. My lessons have been positively observed by the head of maths and a school governor. My additional responsibilities included assisting A-Level students with their UCAS applications and finding work experience placements.

Overall, my dedication to teaching and tutoring has consistently led to significant improvements in student performance and satisfaction. My diverse experience with various educational levels and student needs allows me to effectively tailor my teaching methods to ensure every student can achieve their best.
