Tutoring Experience

For the past four years, I've dedicated myself to high school English education, accumulating a decade of valuable teaching experience. My journey spans grades 9-12, focusing particularly on guiding seniors through their college essay journey. Over the last three years, I've honed their skills in rhetorical and literary analysis, presentation abilities, and argumentative writing.

Tutoring Approach

I like to start each lesson by activating prior knowledge in order to review and build on previous material we've learned. My lessons include frequent checks for understanding, and I like to engage students in the process of metacognition in order for them to gain a better understanding of the strength and challenge areas in their work.

I provide both verbal and written feedback as well as opportunities for students to directly apply my feedback to a revision or a new task. I reinforce what students do well and focus on where they need help, introducing several approaches to the material, so that students can discover what works best for them.

I am approachable and enthusiastic and pride myself on creating a learning environment where students are comfortable asking questions and taking intellectual risks.
