Tutoring Experience
In the past six years, I've logged more than 1000 hours as a tutor, specializing in IB English. I've guided students in developing their language skills, enriched their understanding of literature, and helped them achieve high grades. I've also been actively involved in supporting students with their Internal Assessments (IA) and Extended Essays (EE).
My former students have reported significant improvements in their abilities to analyze texts, construct compelling arguments, and write clear, persuasive essays. I'm proud of the strong relationships I've built with my students, and their families, as I believe a supportive learning environment is integral to academic success.
I have taught English as a Foreign Language in Spain and France and hold a Certificate in Teaching English as a Foreign Language (CELTA).
Tutoring Approach
My tutoring philosophy for English Literature revolves around fostering an appreciation for the beauty of language and the nuances of literary texts. Each session starts with identifying the specific areas the student needs assistance with and understanding their level of comprehension.
For exam preparation, we practice dissecting prose and poetry, honing skills on inference and textual analysis. I ensure students are comfortable with the necessary concepts and are capable of planning and writing essays within the stipulated time. They will then receive comprehensive feedback on their work.
For IAs and EEs, I assist students with brainstorming, structuring, and refining their arguments. Feedback is specific and detailed, covering ideas on structuring, academic writing, and critical thinking. My goal is to empower students to think critically and write persuasively.
