Experienced in tutoring I/GCSE English Literature and English Language for Edexcel, AQA & CIE as well as DP Language and Literature and Literature. Average grade A for more than 120 students tutored in one-on-one and group settings for GCSE and overall grade of 7 for more than 80% students tutored for IBDP. Experienced in supervising Extended Essays in English and Philosophy as well as preparation for Individual Oral Examination. English Language and Literature Tuition Approach

The first tutorial session starts with a short writing, reading or analysis activity where the student has a chance to work on a particular task within specific time limit so we can set up goals for our tutorial sessions based on their ability level. This is followed by feedback to student, a complete report on their strengths and weaknesses based on the activity and a plan for what we will be doing in future sessions. I like to give students a clear, transparent plan while accounting for their academic goals.

As an experienced teacher, I have developed a wide range of worksheets and templates to guide students with different aspects of writing and analysis. I frequently use templates to facilitate students in developing skills for writing literary essays, unseen text commentaries as well as guidance to help them excel in IO and Extended Essay writing. I have a wide range of samples available on different exam skills and spend time looking at level 7/A grade commentaries to help students see what a successful response looks like.

Through training workshops from IBO, experience as international schoolteacher and tutoring, I have learnt skills in differentiated learning, which help me adapt resources according to student’s ability level. Over the years, students have found these detailed templates, hand-outs, samples and guiding worksheets extremely helpful in improving their academic performance in both English Language and Literature.
