I having been tutoring for several years now and love teaching! I am passionate about a fundamentals-based approach to tutoring in which the student establishes a solid foundation of knowledge and critical thinking skills to base the rest of their work in the subject on. I work together with students and parents to create an individual tutoring plan to directly address the students needs. I also specialise in International Baccalaureate tutoring and am a qualified instructor for IB English, Global Politics, Biology, Internal Assessments, Extended Essays and TOK.

Tutoring Experience

I taught English as a second language as an after-school class to middle school aged students on a weekly basis for two years. I based lessons around a theme (e.g. the environment) and students practiced conversational skills as well as basic reading. Each year, the class culminated with an event in which each student gave a personal presentation on the topic of their choice. I tutored IB Global Politics and IB English during the 2020-2021 academic year.

In Global Politics, I used my fundamentals based approach to establish a base for my student's studying habits which I then worked with them to implement in each unit of study.

In English, I practiced literary analysis and annotation skills with my student to help establish confidence and increase ability in working with unseen texts. I also teach essay writing (both exam and research style) with a large focus on structuring writing as to best convey the message of the work.

I currently teach English as a second language. My lessons focus on reading, writing, and grammar for students of all ages (6 y/o to 17 y/o).

I have a basic template for each subject that I customize to the student’s specific needs. My tutoring style promotes a nuanced understanding and appreciation of each subject. I aim to create an easy-going and personalized learning environment, centered around each students’ specific needs.
