Tutoring Experience

I am a Tutor with **6+ years** of experience at a variety of levels, from improving student’s aptitude for writing and approaching questions, to Oxbridge applications and University admissions.

I have experience teaching A level studies in English Literature and Theology. In the last year, I've taking two students from C/B predicted grades to A/A* level in the former and secured an A* with a student in the latter. I favor a dialogic approach to work, leading my students to think about questions differently, positioning them in conversation with the material on their syllabus in a unique way that manifested top results. Furthermore, I worked with my students on their written responses, teaching them to write succinctly and with confidence so as to best address the question before them.

I am also an experienced **University admissions tutor**, specialising in Oxbridge-style interview preparation and personal statement performance. Last year, I secured two interviews at the University of Cambridge and one at the University of Oxford. We worked together on their personal statements, allowing them to showcase themselves in a favourable light to admission tutors. I also offered mock interviews and encouraged them to feel self-assured in their presentation. In the year 2022, I also worked with students’ personal statements to achieve offers from Universities of Bristol, Liverpool and Manchester.

Finally, the inter-disciplinary nature of my University Course and the tutors who supervised me throughout offered me a new, analytical way of approaching material, and I am comfortable in tutoring University level students in methods of essay writing and formulating dissertations. My own dissertation received an 83, securing me a high first. These skills are simple and easily transferrable but will dramatically improve student’s assurance of themselves and allow them to perform in essay conditions to the best of their abilities.

Tutoring Approach

I love people, and am a confident public speaker. Throughout my studies in Education and English, I had time to reflect on the shortcomings of the system as I experienced it, and am excited by the possibility of passing on knowledge and ways of thinking that I have formed through University that will undoubtedly be beneficial to students across a wide range of subjects.
