Tutoring Experience

Previously an examiner for AQA GCSE and A-Level English, I have over a decade of experience teaching English Language and Literature, including GCSE and A-Level, as well as EAL from beginner to advanced, iGCSE, and Verbal Reasoning. I also prepare students for a range of exams, including IELTS, First Certificate, Entrance Exams, IB, and SAT. Having tutored for several years, I am well-versed in all major exam boards for GCSE, A-Level English, and the International Baccalaureate. I am also PGCE qualified, bringing both formal teaching qualifications and practical expertise to ensure high-quality lessons.

Tutoring Approach

In the first lesson, I conduct a diagnostic assessment, running through a selection of tasks to gauge the student’s strengths and identify areas where improvement is needed. Based on this initial assessment, I tailor each subsequent lesson to address the student's weaknesses, ensuring personalized and targeted learning. My lessons follow a regular structure and utilize tools like Google Docs and Slides, providing a clear and organized framework that supports student engagement and progress.

I regularly assess the student’s development and provide prompt feedback to both the student and their parents. Homework is assigned upon request to offer additional practice, helping reinforce concepts covered in lessons. If I notice a lack of progress, I contact the parents to discuss additional strategies and ensure that the student receives the necessary support. Open communication is key, and I make sure to have ongoing discussions with the student to ensure they are learning effectively and meeting their goals.
