Lucie
Oxford University - BA Modern Languages
I am currently in my third year of studies at the University of Oxford. Over the past three years, I have gained extensive experience in tutoring, with a particular emphasis on the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP). My teaching journey has allowed me to work with a diverse age group of students, ranging from 5 to 17 years old. As a native French speaker, I possess a deep fascination with language acquisition and development. This interest has guided my focus towards teaching languages, a field where I continuously seek to understand and explore the various ways in which people learn and master new languages.

Personally Interviewed
Our tutors go through a rigorous selection process, having been interviewed to assess their teaching skills and subject knowledge. They have extensive tutoring experience with a track record of success, helping students achieve their academic goals.
Tutoring Experience
I have been tutoring since mid-2019 and have worked with children of all ages, especially in language learning.
I have taught basic Maths, English, French, and have also taught English to non-native speakers, helping them develop their analytical skills to bridge the gap between learning English as a foreign language and studying its literature, analytically. I have also worked with teenagers, helping them develop their coursework for a number of IB courses, such as Geography, History, French, Spanish and English.
I have helped students improve their university applications through mock interviews, personal statement help and general applications advice.
Tutoring Approach
My tutoring style is very comprehensive.
Whether tutoring in languages or science, I always go back to the basics and build up from there to ensure that there are no gaps in basic processes or grammar. My aim is to allow students to truly understand the subject they may struggle with before beginning to work on exam technique, timing and how to gain marks most effectively.
I’m also available for university applications advice, whether it’s focusing on how to craft a personal statement that will stand out from the rest, interviews advice and practice, or admissions test technique.
