Tutoring Experience

I have a rich history of tutoring that spans both my school and university education.

My journey began with tutoring in mathematics and later expanded to include chemistry. Upon entering university, I transitioned more towards online tutoring, honing my skills in this method. During this period, I also started assisting students with their admissions processes, offering support with personal statements, applications, interview preparation, and strategies for standing out as an applicant.

After completing my undergraduate degree and moving on to postgraduate studies, I continued to tutor chemistry at the undergraduate level, giving me exposure to tutoring chemistry across all academic levels.

Tutoring Approach

Approach to Chemistry and Maths Tutoring

In both Chemistry and Maths tutoring, I initiate the process with an initial assessment of the student's abilities. We start by working through previous questions with minimal guidance from me. This assessment helps me pinpoint the student's strengths and weaknesses.

Subsequently, I dedicate time to addressing these areas, boosting their confidence in the subject matter. Throughout the tutoring sessions, I consistently integrate exam-style questions to reinforce their learning. In the final stages, we focus on refining their exam technique and practicing past papers, ensuring their ability to consistently achieve high scores in exams.

Approach to Admissions Tutoring

The admissions tutoring process begins by delving into the student's personal motivations, distilling these into a concise personal statement through multiple revisions. Alongside this, I recommend additional reading in their specific areas of interest.

Once the UCAS application is complete and paperwork is in order, we transition to interview preparation.

Interview preparation primarily involves acclimating them to tackling higher-level questions and approaching new topics in a systematic manner. This is primarily accomplished through worked examples and practice interviews with me to help them gain confidence in handling interview situations effectively.
