My name is Leyla, and I have successfully assisted students in crafting UCAS applications for esteemed Russell Group Universities, specialising in fields such as Architecture, Computer Science, Accounting & Finance, and Marketing. Tutoring Experience

I am an architect-in-training; having graduated in Architecture from Trinity College, University of Cambridge, in 2017.

I was then awarded the Abraham-Broad Fellowship to study at Rice University, Houston, for one year. Here, I immersed myself in varied subject matter, from Printmaking to Politics of Cultural Heritage to Python Programming. Most notably, I helped to lead and build the +House Building Project, an Ancillary Dwelling Unit in the impoverished Third Ward of Houston.

The trans-disciplinary nature of the degree was transformative in my understanding of architecture and culture, and has informed my methods of tutoring. I encourage students to innovate and collaborate. My balanced background in Product Design, Geography and Maths enables me to tutor a range of subjects.

I have since been working on Adaptive Reuse projects in both the Houston and London offices of global design firm Gensler, alongside funded research with the Stephen Lawrence Trust into the impact of architecture on BAME communities. In my spare time, my passion for physically building at different scales - from furniture, to woodland installations, to houses - keeps me excited about design!

When I helped students write UCAS applications, This included both preparation and online consultation for each student. I currently volunteer as a mentor to one student applying to Cambridge to study Architecture.

We meet monthly to prepare for the entrance exam, portfolio and interview; exchange work in between too.

I have also taught a one-week online class in 3D Design to international GCSE students.

Previously, I have run activities for multiple TeenTech events, encouraging students to be creative within the built environment. I have also led the Work Experience program for GCSE/A-Level students at the global architecture firm Gensler, in London.

Tutoring Approach

I really enjoy helping others achieve their goals.

I want to encourage my students to think independently and confidently and will develop skills with them to do so. I will aim to truly connect with each student to decipher their learning style, and work at a pace that is right for them.
