Tutoring Experience

With three years of experience in tutoring A-Level students, I have logged more than 300 hours of one-on-one sessions, predominantly in the fields of Chemistry and Biology. I have nurtured students with diverse capabilities, helping them grapple with complex scientific concepts, enabling them to grasp the beauty of these subjects while meeting their academic targets.

My students have consistently secured high grades in their final exams, reflecting the effectiveness of my tailored tutoring strategies. I not only support students to enhance their understanding but also foster their curiosity and enthusiasm for learning.

In addition to this, I have volunteered in several science camps and fairs in Hong Kong and the UK, which has broadened my teaching experience beyond the traditional classroom setting.

Tutoring Approach

My teaching philosophy centers around an individualized approach, considering the specific needs, abilities, and interests of each student. I endeavor to simplify complex scientific concepts by relating them to everyday examples, making learning more engaging and relatable.

For exam preparation, I guide students through past paper questions, emphasizing understanding the requirements of each question, effective time management, and developing concise, scientifically accurate responses. I encourage students to construct mind maps and concept diagrams, facilitating their comprehension and recall of information.

When supporting students with coursework, I provide structured feedback on drafts, assisting in the development of logical arguments, appropriate use of scientific terminology, and proper referencing. We also explore different research methodologies, enabling students to select and implement the most suitable approach for their study.

Lastly, I foster a friendly, supportive environment that encourages questions, sparks discussions, and nurtures a deep-seated interest in the life sciences.
