Tutoring Experience

I have been tutoring since secondary school, and in 2016, I graduated with a PGCE in History, English, and French. I have taught at various international language schools worldwide, including EF in Russia, Happy English in Spain, Alpadia in Switzerland, and EF in Oxford. Over the last five years, I served as the head of the History department at schools in Portugal and Mexico. At my previous school, Nobel International School Algarve, Portugal, I initiated the A-level course, while at my current school, The Wingate School in Mexico City, I introduced the IGCSE program. I also provided online tutoring for an extracurricular A-level history student, who achieved an A in her results. Additionally, I have experience teaching English in Secondary School, working with the Cambridge, Edexcel, and IB curricula.

Moreover, I served as the Director of a Model United Nations team, leading them to participate in a conference at the University of Southern California, where one of my students received the award for 'most honorable delegate.' I maintain a 100% pass rate in my A-levels classes, with many students achieving A's and A*'s. Some of the history topics I have covered include South Africa 1948-2014, Germany in Dictatorship 1919-1945, the Russian Revolution, the French Revolution, Superpower Relations (Peace Treaties to Cold War), Medicine through Time, Civil Rights in the US, and British Warfare. Additionally, during the pandemic, I collaborated with an Edexcel examiner to mark my students' exams, resulting in excellent outcomes.

Tutoring Approach

My tutoring approach aligns with the IB method, integrating various Theory of Knowledge (ToK) activities to engage students and employing a flipped classroom strategy. I particularly emphasise the development of balanced arguments and the effective use of evidence to construct a strong defense. Additionally, I have curated numerous slides from different textbooks, which I personally created, and I incorporate exam preparation as needed.
