As a Chemistry student at the University of Oxford, I blend academic rigour with over three years of tutoring experience in Maths and Chemistry. My aim? To not only teach but to inspire a passion for learning in my students.

Tutoring Experience

I have over 3 years of tutoring experience and have tutored: Key Stage 3&4, GCSEs and A-Levels.

One of my proudest accomplishments as a tutor was helping a student that was predicted a grade 4 in GCSE maths achieve a grade 7.

I have also tutored students for university entrance exams such as the Cambridge STEP Papers, Cambridge Natural Sciences Admissions Test and the Oxford MAT Paper.

Two of my former students have received offers from either Oxford and Cambridge.

Tutoring Approach

My approach as a tutor for both Chemistry and Maths is to ensure a good foundational understanding of the topic before challenging and building on that.

This is done through several examples and a few problem-solving tasks where students have to apply the knowledge they’ve learnt in several different ways. Once I’m sure that a good understanding of the topic is there, I then move them on to attempting exam style questions whilst guiding the student through them. When they’ve started to feel comfortable with these questions, they are then able to become less reliant on me and complete the problems on their own.

As they begin to feel more and more confident, I move them on to some challenging extension questions. Over time, I would have slowly built up the student’s confidence for their relevant entrance exam.
