Tutoring Experience

In Greece, I have held various academic and administrative roles over several decades. I worked as a lecturer in Management, Marketing, Accounting, Finance, Mathematics, and Quantitative Methods at Southeastern College, where I also served as Department Head and Assistant Dean of the Business Department for seven years. Later, I became a lecturer and Dean of Studies at MAC & Parsers School of Liberal Studies for six years. Concurrently, I lectured at the University of Indianapolis (Athens Campus) and taught at several prestigious institutions, including Athens/Psychico College, Ι.Μ. Panagiotopoulos, and the International School of Athens (ISA). I have been an IB Business Management examiner for over 25 years. Additionally, I have taught at vocational institutes, delivered in-company seminars, and moderated IB Business and Management since 1997 and have also been an online tutor for over fourteen years, assisting students with their IB coursework, extended essays and internal assessments.

Tutoring Approach

In my tutoring experience, I begin each session by introducing myself and the subject matter to the student. I focus on identifying their areas of weakness and understanding their specific challenges within the topic. I encourage students to share what they would like to focus on, ensuring that the lessons are tailored to their needs. Throughout the session, I engage the student with targeted questions to assess their understanding, prompting them to think critically and articulate their thoughts. This interactive approach helps to ensure that the student remains actively involved in the learning process.

At the end of each lesson, I provide a worksheet that reinforces the material covered, which the student is expected to complete and return by the next session. This practice allows me to review their progress and address any misconceptions. I also make it a point to have the student summarize what they have learned during the session, reinforcing key concepts and ensuring that they retain the information. By continuously asking questions and encouraging active participation, I help students build confidence and a deeper understanding of the subject matter.
