Qualified Teacher | SAT/ACT Instructor | BSc Mechanical Engineering

My name is Jessica, and I have built my career around scientific research, design, and interdisciplinary projects in the Mechanical and Aerospace fields. Early in my journey, I became involved in STEM tutoring at UCF and MDC, where I focused on courses like Algebra, Geometry, and Pre-Calculus. Over time, I expanded my tutoring to cover K-12 and IB level STEM subjects, both in the classroom and online. I am dedicated to ensuring student success, striving to help students develop strong problem-solving skills through effective methods. Additionally, I have received expert training in preparing students for SAT/ACT exams, offering strategic guidance and step-by-step solutions to achieve their academic goals

Tutoring Experience

As a Mechanical Engineer, my journey into tutoring began during college, where I worked with the STEM department, tutoring small groups of 5-10 students in Calculus and Statistics. Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of working with students across various grade levels. I have also received specialized training from SAT/ACT experts, equipping me with effective test-taking strategies to help students excel in these exams. For the past two years, I’ve taught abroad at American schools, gaining exposure to diverse educational approaches like IB, Montessori, and Project-Based Learning. Currently, I tutor a wide range of STEM-related courses, including AP Mathematics, Physic and IB Mathematics, as well as the ACT and SAT admissions.

Tutoring Approach

My tutoring approach begins with personalized communication. Before the first lesson, I reach out to the student to introduce myself and learn more about their goals and the specific areas they would like to focus on. This initial conversation helps me identify their strengths, weaknesses, and areas of concern so that I can tailor my lessons to meet their individual needs. I create a structured lesson plan around these identified weaknesses, ensuring that each session is productive and directly addresses the student's challenges. To further support progress, I maintain a student tracker where I document each lesson, adding comments about their performance, homework, and tests. This ongoing assessment allows me to adjust my teaching strategies and ensure continuous improvement.

During our sessions, I aim to create a supportive and encouraging environment, working to alleviate the student's anxiety about completing work. I incorporate palpitation activities at the start of each lesson to engage the student actively and help them ease into the learning process. These activities not only reduce tension but also promote confidence, enabling the student to approach their work without fear. My goal is to make learning a positive and empowering experience, guiding students toward mastering their material while also developing problem-solving skills and overcoming academic hurdles.

Testimonials

"Jessica is absolutely amazing. My daughter is extremely pleased with her sessions. I can only give super positive feedback. My daughter is a strong academic performer. Unfortunately, her science teacher does not live up to private school standards/expectations. Thanks to Jessica, I am 100000% sure that this year will not be lost. Best decision ever to get in touch with Tutor Chase. It was like finding the pot of golden luck at the end of the rainbow. Jessica is the perfect match!"

Caroline, Parent of MYP student

"Overall, a really good tutor. I understood everything quickly, and the lesson was well structured with going over the material, different levels of practice problems and identifying areas of weakness."

Jumana, SAT student

"Very good, very helpful, something I appreciated was even if I got it wrong she wouldn’t demotivate me and make me feel ashamed. Even though we didn’t have a lot of classes a lot was learned and it was really useful"

Gulliem, SAT student

"I have now been having regular sessions with jessica for over month (we have now done 6 sessions together), and I feel that I can now form a proper opinion regarding Jessica and the tutoring in general. I initially sought out to get tutoring due to the fact that I was debating between Math AA HL and Math AA SL, yet I ended up dropping down to SL due to several reasons (not because of poor performance but rather timetable issues etc.) Since then I have been able to really focalize on my studies and Jessica has taught me important values. I have always prided myself in being conseptually good and fast in math, always trying to rush throught the problems, yet Jessica notcied this and informed me that it would greatly benefit me so as to not make small arithmetic errors etc. This has always been a problem as I understand how to do the problem but I distribute wrong or take the wrong root or whatever it may be. These sessions with Jessica have taught me not only disipline in actually doing my homework and studying content we learned in class (I used to never to homework or study at all for that matter), but most importantly I feel that she has improved my overall structure and allowed me to put my thinking pace into organized steps (although it is still a work in progress of course.) I sincerely wish to continue working with Jessica to ensure that I achieve all the big goals I have for myself in terms of academics, and I believe that with her help I can succeed in my studies."

Cyprien, IB Maths/Physics HL student

"Jessica is a great tutor. She helped me improve my SAT score and showed me ways to answer questions faster and smarter. She is able to adapt to someone’s learning style and quickly figures out what the student is struggling with, to then focus on them and improve that skill. Although she a a busy schedule, she is always starts an time, uses the time sufficiently and is always does her best. Not only is she a great teacher but she is is also a great person. I always enjoyed me sessions with her and felt very comfortable. She didn‘t make me feel bad for making mistakes but rather gave me confidence to keep trying. The way she explained things made them easy for me to understand, even things that i have struggled with for a long time. I would definitely recommend Jessica as a tutor."
