Tutoring Experience

I have both a bachelor’s degree and master’s degree in education from West Chester University.

For the past six years, I have taught and tutored students from 2nd grade all the way to the college level. While I mostly tutored with History/Geography, Biology and Natural Science. I have also helped students with Colleges Admissions.

Tutoring Approach

Being a teacher and a tutor for over six years, I understand how important it is to incorporate passion and experience for a subject. In order to help incorporate this passion and experience into an effective learning strategy, I create a three-step plan. The first step I do is tailor a schedule to examine the goals, strengths, and needs of the student. Whether it be learning through doing or guided reinforcement, I talk to the student to understand what learning style would be most beneficial for them. My next step involves taking the information I learned about the student and creating a specific approach that helps them grasp the content in a fun and engaging way. This can be in the form of online interactives, virtual experiments, and/or hands on manipulatives. This will help break down the content from an abstract thought to a tangible real-life example.The final step is to emphasize the key details of what we learned and to check for understanding in order for students to fully understand the lesson.
