Cambridge Uni - PhD Neuroscience | Oxford Uni - BA Neuroscience
In the last four years, I've dedicated over 450 hours to tutoring science, both online and in person. I customize my teaching style for each student, regardless of age or learning needs. My focus is on helping students improve their grades, with many achieving a two-grade boost. I've also conducted group tutorials for schools and taught university-level subjects like neuroscience, along with assisting students with interview and test preparation.

Tutoring Experience
In my educational journey, I took charge of my own learning for my A-levels before pursuing further studies. I excelled in Experimental Psychology, earning a Foundation Degree with distinction at Lady Margaret Hall, and later graduated with top honors from the University of Oxford with a BA in Neuroscience.
Throughout my academic path, I delved into understanding the intricate molecular mechanisms behind neurodegeneration, particularly focusing on autophagy, which is like a cellular cleaning process. My research took me to prestigious institutions like the MRC-Mitochondrial Biology Unit and the Kennedy Institute of Rheumatology, where I explored topics such as mitochondrial autophagy (known as mitophagy), RNA Pol II transcription elongation, and rapid antidepressant action. Currently, I'm delving deeper into childhood neurodegenerative disorders, specifically studying how proteins and damaged cell parts are cleared from the brain. Concurrently, I've dedicated significant time to tutoring, accumulating over 450 hours of experience across four years.
I've helped students achieve remarkable improvements, often raising their grades by two levels. Schools have sought my expertise to provide additional support to groups of 2-8 learners. Beyond individual tutoring, I've taught undergraduate courses like 'Introduction to Neuroscience and Neurophysiology' and 'Pathology of Neurodegenerative Disease'. I've also coached students for Oxbridge and general interviews, facilitated Thinking Skills Assessment (TSA) and BioMedical Admissions Test (BMAT) preparation, and guided them through crafting effective personal statements. Additionally, I've served as a subject tutor for students at various academic levels, covering primary, secondary, and GCSE Maths and sciences, as well as A-level Biology and Chemistry.
Tutoring Approach
My tutoring approach is highly personalized, tailored to each student's needs, including those with special learning requirements. I believe that every student has unique strengths, weaknesses, and learning styles, so I adapt my teaching methods accordingly.
This might involve using visual aids, breaking down complex concepts into smaller, more digestible chunks, providing additional practice exercises, or offering alternative explanations until they grasp the material.
I also foster a supportive and inclusive learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, expressing their concerns, and advocating for their learning needs. By tailoring my approach to each student, I empower them to reach their full potential and succeed academically.
