Tutoring Experience

Over the past four years, I have accrued more than 500 hours of tutoring experience, working primarily with IB and IGCSE Biology students. My expertise lies in elucidating complex concepts, enhancing coursework, and systematically preparing students for their examinations. I pride myself on fostering meaningful relationships with my students and their parents and facilitating an open and productive learning environment.


Prior to my tutoring career, I gained teaching experience as a graduate teaching assistant at Cambridge and further honed my educational skills through a voluntary program teaching biology in secondary schools across London. I've been gratified to see many of my students achieve their academic goals and develop a genuine passion for biology.

Tutoring Approach

My approach to teaching biology involves initially gauging the student's understanding of the subject and then tailoring my lessons to their unique needs. For exams, we delve into past paper questions to familiarise students with the examination format and equip them with effective strategies to tackle various question types. I emphasise the importance of conceptual understanding over rote memorisation, helping students construct comprehensive, logical notes. I also provide detailed feedback on their independent work to track their progress and guide them on areas for improvement.


Additionally, for coursework such as IAs, I provide constructive criticism on their drafts or aid in brainstorming and structuring new ideas, ensuring that their arguments are cogent and scientifically sound. My ultimate goal is to instill in my students the skills and confidence they need to excel not just in their examinations, but also in their future scientific pursuits.
