Tutoring Experience

I have extensive tutoring experience, including preparing high school students for the Physics Olympiad and helping Cambridge applicants craft personal statements. At Cambridge, I have tutored undergraduates across three year groups in eight subjects, ranging from Maths to Mechanics. In total, I have tutored hundreds of hours and tutored a wide range of students. This experience, combined with my background as a Cambridge supervisor and student, allows me to provide expert, personalized tuition tailored to each student’s academic needs.

Tutoring Approach

I begin by understanding what the student needs and their goals. In the first session, I typically quiz students to identify areas where they need the most help and determine the boundaries of their knowledge. I often use past papers to examine their abilities, as this is a practical way to assess their understanding and prepare for exams or admissions. Success, particularly in admissions, requires a strong commitment from the student, and I emphasize the importance of hard work. Regular tests and past papers are used to benchmark progress and track improvements.

I aim to create interactive, two-way sessions where students feel engaged and encouraged to actively think through problem-solving. It's important that they understand the big picture of each question and develop an intuition for predicting the expected answer before working through the maths. I strive to build a patient and comfortable learning environment where students aren’t afraid to make mistakes, as this is a key part of mastering difficult concepts. My goal is to understand the limits of their current knowledge and work with them to expand those boundaries, fostering confidence and deeper understanding in the process.
