Tutoring Experience

I have been tutoring students in the three Sciences and Mathematics at GCSE and A Level for over a year. This has enabled me to understand what approach to take when trying instill an interest for the subject in my student. I recall that one of my GCSE Physics students despised the subject when I first began teaching her because she didn’t understand it at all. However, five months passed of me teaching her on a weekly basis, and by the end of it she had a keen interest in Physics and had also been predicted an 8 in the subject (which is equivalent to an A*).

Mathematics Tuition Approach

When it comes to excelling in Maths, practice makes perfect. Therefore, after teaching my student the theory, I ensure we spend at least half of the session working through past paper questions

Physics Tuition Approach

Physics is very much based on understanding complicated concepts. If one understands them properly, they are bound to excel. Therefore, I always take the time to explain, and then re-explain difficult concepts to my student, even if it takes the whole session; we can’t move on if they don’t understand it.

Chemistry Tuition Approach

Chemistry requires students to retain a lot of information. Therefore, I go through memory techniques with the student, and help them to make flash cards. I also ensure that they continually practice regurgitating that information, because it’s one thing to retain something in one’s memory, but quite another to be able to return to return to it at the required moment.
