Tutoring Experience

For the past three years, I have been tutoring A-Level and IGCSE students in Chemistry in a wide range of settings, both one-on-one and group lessons, totaling over 250 hours of classes. My students have ranged from those needing a bit of extra support to understand complex concepts, to high-achievers aiming for top university admissions.

I've assisted many in improving their grasp of key topics, honing their practical skills, and boosting their confidence in their abilities. I also have experience preparing students for standardised tests and university entrance exams.

Tutoring Approach

My approach to tutoring is learner-centred, focusing on the unique needs of each student. I start by evaluating the current understanding of the student on the subject, identifying gaps in knowledge, and understanding their learning style. I then customize lessons to fill these gaps and build on existing knowledge, employing a variety of teaching methods.

For exam preparation, we go through past papers to familiarise students with the format and type of questions. I encourage critical thinking by challenging students to apply concepts in real-world situations, and to explain concepts in their own words. This way, students learn to understand the subject rather than memorize it, developing a lasting interest in Chemistry. I provide constructive feedback and track progress over time, adjusting my approach as needed.
