Tutoring Experience
I recently completed my studies at the University of Oxford, earning a 2.1 degree in Law and receiving an academic scholarship during my final year. My immediate focus is on preparing for the Solicitors Qualifying Exam, as I look forward to commencing my Training Contract at a prominent US law firm’s London office.
My engagement with educational outreach and mentoring began during my time at Oxford. As the Law Subject Ambassador at St Peter’s College, I took on a pivotal role in guiding prospective students through the complexities of the law curriculum. I organized and led comprehensive workshops where I elucidated the course structure, conducted mock interviews to simulate real admissions processes, provided effective LNAT revision strategies, and offered constructive feedback on personal statements. This role allowed me to contribute significantly to the college community by demystifying the admissions process and supporting aspiring law students in achieving their academic goals.
Additionally, within the college law society, I served as an Application Assistant, collaborating closely with students to refine their personal statements and bolster their applications for both academic courses and vocational placements. This involved personalized mentoring sessions aimed at enhancing each student’s confidence and success in their pursuits.
Beyond my university commitments, I have accumulated over five years of tutoring experience, consistently tailoring my approach to meet the unique needs of each student. This experience has not only honed my ability to deliver high-quality educational support but also reinforced my dedication to ensuring every learner achieves their full potential.
I am eager to continue leveraging my academic background, mentoring skills, and practical experience to make a positive impact on the educational journeys of future students.
Tutoring Approach
My tutoring approach begins with structured tuition plans tailored to meet specific needs: personal statement writing, where I guide students in crafting compelling statements that highlight their unique strengths and aspirations; LNAT preparation, encompassing both multiple-choice and essay sections to ensure comprehensive understanding and effective exam strategy; Oxbridge Law interview preparation, with sessions customized to boost confidence and readiness for rigorous interviews; and a general introduction to Law, designed especially for international students unfamiliar with the English legal system, providing foundational knowledge crucial for academic and professional pursuits.
Each tutoring journey commences with an introductory session where I engage students in discussions about their preferred learning styles and goals. This initial meeting enables me to tailor subsequent lessons precisely to their individual needs and expectations. I advocate for an interactive approach by assigning tasks outside of lessons, such as drafting or refining personal statements, and completing LNAT essays. In the following sessions, I offer detailed feedback and guidance based on their assignments, fostering continuous improvement and deepened understanding.
This personalized method not only facilitates academic growth but also nurtures confidence as students progress toward achieving their educational objectives.
