Tutoring Experience
Since 2015, I have been teaching and tutoring mathematics to students across a variety of age groups and academic levels. My teaching career spans schools in both the UK and South Korea, where I taught classes ranging from ages 11 to 18. During this time, I gained extensive experience working with students from diverse cultural and educational backgrounds, which has enhanced my ability to adapt my teaching methods to individual needs.
In addition to my school teaching experience, I have been deeply involved in tutoring for the International Baccalaureate (IB) curriculum. I specialize in both IB Mathematics: Analysis and Approaches (AA) and Applications and Interpretation (AI) at Higher Level (HL) and Standard Level (SL). My work with IB students has focused on building their confidence in tackling challenging topics, honing their problem-solving skills, and mastering exam techniques. I have also supported students in developing and refining their Internal Assessments (IA) by providing clear guidance on mathematical explorations, structure, and presentation, ensuring that they meet IB standards.
Tutoring Approach
I start by discussing their most recent exam performance, identifying areas of strength and weakness, and asking them what they would like to focus on during our sessions. Whether it's mastering a particular topic or preparing for an upcoming exam, I tailor the lessons to address their priorities. Communication is key to my approach, as I ensure we maintain a clear dialogue throughout the learning process. Many students are naturally motivated to achieve high grades, and I aim to build on this drive by offering targeted support and recommending additional resources, such as high-quality YouTube videos, to reinforce learning outside of our sessions. By combining personalized attention with effective resources, I help students build both confidence and competence in their subject.
