Tutoring Experience
I am a PhD student in Physics at the University of Cambridge, researching Quantum Computing and Algorithms. As part of my PhD, I supervise introductory courses in Physics and Mathematics at Cambridge. I earned First-class degrees in both my undergraduate and Master’s studies here, and was honoured as a foundation scholar for consistently ranking in the top 5% of my cohort.
Outside academia, I'm active in the Cambridge Physics Society committee, enjoy fencing, and hold a pilot's license for gliders. In high school, I represented Italy at the 2016 International Astronomy Olympiad (IAO) and won a bronze medal at the 2018 International Physics Olympiad (IPhO). To promote participation in the Astronomy Olympiad, I authored "Fundamentals of Astronomy, a guide for Olympiads," which is recommended on official U.S., U.K., and German websites.
With five years of experience teaching KS3, GCSE, A-levels, and IB in Maths and Physics, I've assisted students with Oxbridge applications, including Personal Statements and Mock Interviews. Currently, I supervise Cambridge's 2nd and 3rd year Physics and Mathematics courses.
Tutoring Approach
My tutoring approach focuses on inspiring and empowering students in Maths and Physics through personalised instruction. I begin by understanding each student's unique learning style and goals, tailoring sessions to optimise their understanding and progress. In addition to academic tutoring, I provide comprehensive guidance on university applications, including crafting effective Personal Statements and preparing for Mock Interviews.
Drawing from my research in Quantum Computing and Algorithms, I emphasise practical applications to demonstrate real-world relevance, enhancing comprehension of complex concepts. I offer structured exam preparation for KS3, GCSE, A-levels, and IB exams, using targeted strategies and ample practice to boost confidence and performance.
Through interactive lessons, I share my passion for physics by connecting theoretical knowledge with practical examples and insights from international competitions and academic pursuits. Regular assessments and feedback sessions are integral to my approach, allowing me to monitor progress, pinpoint areas for improvement, and celebrate achievements with students.
I encourage participation in extracurricular activities such as physics societies, competitions, and personal hobbies like fencing and glider flying, aiming to enrich students' overall learning experiences and broaden their perspectives. My ultimate goal is to nurture confidence and enthusiasm in students, equipping them with both academic skills and the mindset to successfully tackle future academic challenges and opportunities.
