Oxford University - BSc Biomedical Sciences
I am on the cusp of graduating from the University of Oxford with a Bachelor of Science degree in Cell and Systems Biology, after completing a rigorous curriculum in biomedical sciences. My dedication to academia is highlighted by my comprehensive experience in tutoring pupils in biology and mathematics, ranging from Year 6 to Year 12.

Tutoring Experience
I've tutored students for 2 years, working independently.
I've taught kids from Year 6 to Year 11. Most of my work focuses on GCSE Maths. I also help younger students, like those in Year 8 and Year 7.
One student prepared for the 12+ test with my guidance. This student also learned Year 7/8 science with me. My goal is to support students through their academic transitions.
Tutoring Approach
Biology: I would go through key words and concepts for a given topic/lesson title as there can be lots of similar sounding words in biology. It is useful to have diagrams or steps of important processes as well so I would make sure to go through the process of making these with the student. It is then important to apply the content to practise questions, so we would go through some questions together to consolidate their knowledge and to understand what is needed to answer a question.
Maths: I would go through a couple of example questions for a given topic to show the student the method they need for the given types of questions. I would set them some questions to do independently but it is important that they ask questions at any stages where they feel stuck, so then we can work through a problem together.
Biomedical Sciences interview preparation: Interviewers often have diagrams or graphs and centre some questions around these, so it is good to practise looking at graphs to get used to reading them and interpreting the information they are presenting. It is also useful to familiarise yourself with looking at diagrams/photos of biological process/specimens. A big part of interviews is to talk through your thought process so I would encourage students to explain their ideas, even if they change their direction – this shows that they can change their thoughts and adapt to being given additional information, for example.
