City University of New York - PhD Philosophy

With a foundation of 12 A* GCSEs and A-Level studies in Maths, French, History, and Philosophy, I earned a BA in Philosophy, Politics, and Economics (PPE) from the University of Oxford. Now, I am embarking on a PhD in Philosophy at the City University of New York, focusing on Ethics and Feminist Philosophy. My time at Oxford was profoundly enriching, and I am keen to share insights with prospective applicants navigating the intimidating application process, always eager to provide support and engage in discussions.

Tutoring Experience

- I worked for two consecutive years (2018 and 2019) for the Oxford University UNIQ Summer School (officially run by the university itself). As a Student Ambassador, I provided dedicated academic support to the Year 12 students on the PPE summer school, including running admissions workshops, providing focused essay help, and leading seminars on lecture topics. I am therefore highly experienced in working with potential Oxbridge applicants to support their admissions process. This experience also gave me a great deal of experience with admissions tutors and a strong understanding of what they look for in a prospective candidate.

- I also worked in 2018 as an Interview Helper for St Anne's College, working with tutors and pastoral staff at the college to set up for interviews and to provide help to the interview candidates. This again put me in close contact with admissions tutors at the college, and also gave me experience with lots of different applicants so that I am familiar with all of the usual questions and concerns that potential candidates might have.

- Intensive online tuition and preparation for PPE personal statement and interviews which began August 2019.

Tutoring Approach

I began tutoring in 2018 and since then I have tutored over fifteen Year 12 and 13 students for admission to Oxbridge through 1-1 video sessions focusing on personal statements, interviews, the TSA, and the Philosophy Admissions entrance test.

My tutoring sessions include guiding and probing students' ideas, running mock interviews, suggesting additional reading and resources to supplement their own work, and confidently explaining methods and answers for the admissions tests.
