Ellie
PGCE Qualified Teacher | Oxford University - BA Psychology, Chemistry
Hi, I'm Ellie and I've been tutoring for more than a decade. After completing my degree at Oxford University in 2011, I began tutoring. Even during my PGCE and teaching Chemistry at James Allen's Girls' School, I continued privately. I value 1-1 tutorials for their unique ability to unravel stumbling blocks and build student confidence. My tutoring style is warm and supportive, honed through years of experience with diverse students.

Tutoring Experience
My educational journey commenced at a prestigious girls' school in Beaconsfield, Buckinghamshire, where I discovered my fervor for learning. Engaging in a myriad of activities, I thrived in sports and honed my oratory skills. Motivated by my academic achievements, I pursued Experimental Psychology at New College, Oxford, where my intrigue for the subject burgeoned.
Graduating with enthusiasm, I embarked on a teaching path, obtaining a PGCE in Secondary Science, majoring in Chemistry, from the Institute of Education in London. This paved the way for my tenure at James Allen's Girls' School in Dulwich, where I assumed diverse roles, including Head of Oxbridge and Sixth Form Tutor. Since then, my dedication to education has extended to private tutoring, primarily focusing on Chemistry.
With extensive experience teaching Chemistry at a prominent independent girls' school in South East London, I've nurtured students towards academic excellence. As Head of Oxbridge at school, I guided applicants through every stage of the application process, showcasing my unwavering commitment to their achievements.
Tutoring Approach
My tutoring approach is all about making learning feel like a breeze. I'm here to help students tackle even the toughest subjects with confidence. Through years of teaching experience, I've perfected my friendly and supportive style.
It's all about breaking down those big, scary concepts into bite-sized pieces that anyone can understand. So whether it's unraveling the mysteries of chemistry or dissecting complex scientific theories, I'm here to guide students every step of the way, making sure they feel empowered and ready to conquer any challenge.

Maria, parent of GCSE student
"Ellie tutored my son a few years ago in Chemistry and her warm and focused approach paid dividends. Not only did my son not complain when Ellie was due to arrive, but he positively looked forward to it. Additionally, he gained high grades in his exams, and I believe he went up a grade, if not two grades, based on the tutoring that Ellie did. I could never speak highly enough of Ellie and what she did for my son!"
