Tutoring Experience
I have previously tutored a variety of ages and levels of students, from the beginning of secondary school, through GCSE/ NAT 5s and up to IB and A-Levels. Currently I am tutoring numerous students in A-Level, IB, and GCSE Geography.
Previous pupils have been extremely happy with the way I approach tutoring, making it engaging and fun, challenging the brain to further consolidate upon what has been taught at school. Pupils stated they “felt more confident and prepared for exams” as well as “having a wider knowledge of the subject after having lesson” from myself. This is because I examine course syllabuses and tie in unusual case studies which are relevant to the subject area which they are learning about in school.
I am happy to report that 100% of my pupils received at least 1 grade higher in their exams than predicted, with 85% of pupils being graded 2 grades or more above what had been initially predicted.

I approach the tutoring of geography depending on the student’s needs, aims, strengths and weaknesses. Upon our first lesson I discuss what the tutee’s targets for achievement are, and I identify which specific areas to Geography the tutee feels most confident in and where they most need assistance.
My lesson style is very malleable depending on the students’ needs for support, and I tailor each lesson to well suit each tutee. This could involve:
- Further explaining what has been learnt at school, offering alternative case studies to help the student grasp the fundamental underpinnings to both human and physical geography
- Demonstrating through diagrams physical geographic processes
- Marking of pass-papers, and going over these with the student so they can understand how to gain as many points as possible when tackling exam papers
-Reading through essay style answers to educate the student on the most effective way to deliver the information they are being asked for under exam style time pressure
- Providing exam style short quiz style questions to check the student has a diverse knowledge of the subject
- Offering revision tips and tricks
Discuss over a particular issue, or to clarify any general geography-based questions
- Any other requests the student may have to enhance their learning.
I am aware that many different pupils learn in different ways which is why I provide such a wide range of lesson approaches.
