Tutoring Experience

Since my second year at the University of Amsterdam, I've taken on a mentoring role for first-year students, guiding them through the complexities of university life and the demands of their academic courses. This experience ignited my passion for teaching, prompting me to extend my assistance to high school students preparing for their IB exams. Over the past two years, I have tutored over 20 students in Maths and Chemistry, helping them understand intricate concepts and improve their grades by at least one or two levels. Notably, one of my students, initially struggling with Higher Level Maths, went on to score a remarkable 6 in her finals after our rigorous sessions. My success stories motivate me to continually evolve and enhance my tutoring techniques.

Tutoring Approach

My teaching philosophy is rooted in three principles:

Understanding Over Memorization: I firmly believe in ensuring that my students genuinely understand the underlying principles of a topic, rather than just memorizing formulas or facts. This deeper comprehension guarantees longer retention and applicability in real-world scenarios.

Interactive Engagement: Instead of a one-way flow of information, I encourage active participation. By involving students in discussions and problem-solving during our sessions, I ensure they remain engaged and can immediately apply what they've learned.

Customization: Recognizing that every student is unique, I adapt my methods to fit their learning style, strengths, and areas of improvement. Regular feedback sessions help me understand their needs better, allowing me to tailor my approach for maximum effectiveness.
