Tutoring Experience

Over the past two years, I have actively engaged in tutoring students in GCSE and A-level maths as well as chemistry. My commitment to their academic success has allowed me to witness remarkable progress in their understanding and performance in these subjects. Additionally, I have had the privilege of guiding students through the rigorous TSA and Oxbridge admissions process, ensuring they possess the necessary skills and knowledge to confidently tackle these assessments.

I have contributed to a mentoring scheme aimed at supporting individuals who face challenges with KS3 Mathematics in their school curriculum. By providing one-on-one mentorship, I have been able to empower these students, helping them overcome difficulties and develop a stronger foundation in mathematics.

Tutoring Approach

During my tutoring sessions for Maths and Chemistry, my main focus will be on addressing the specific subject areas in which the student faces difficulties. We will delve into those topics, reviewing concepts, clarifying doubts, and strengthening understanding through targeted practice exercises. Additionally, to provide comprehensive preparation, I will incorporate full past paper practice sessions to familiarize the student with the exam format and build their confidence in tackling challenging questions.

To identify the areas of weakness, I employ a thorough approach. This includes analyzing the student's performance in class tests and assessments, as well as utilizing assessments that I personally design. This comprehensive evaluation enables me to pinpoint specific areas that require attention and tailor the tutoring sessions accordingly, ensuring a more effective learning experience.

In terms of session format, I am flexible and adaptable to the preferences of the tutee or their parents/guardians. Whether they prefer in-person sessions, online tutoring, or a combination of both, I am willing to accommodate their needs as long as the request is made with a little advance notice. My aim is to create a comfortable and conducive learning environment that maximizes the tutee's engagement and learning outcomes.

When it comes to TSA tutoring, I follow a similar structure, but with an additional emphasis on the exam-specific techniques and strategies required to excel in this particular discipline. We will delve into the different sections of the TSA, such as the Problem-Solving and Critical Thinking tasks, and work on honing the necessary skills to approach these questions effectively. By combining content review, targeted practice, and exam technique guidance, I ensure that my students are well-prepared to excel in the TSA examination and showcase their full potential.
