Tutoring Experience

Over the course of the past year, I have had the privilege of serving as a tutor for both 1-1 and 3-1 sessions.

Additionally, I have also volunteered with two separate organizations. The first organization focused on addressing educational inequality in Oxford, where I worked as a tutor to help provide educational opportunities to underprivileged students. The second organization was dedicated to mentoring prospective Maths and Computer Science students at Oxford, where I was able to use my experience and knowledge to guide students in these challenging fields.

Moreover, I have been able to make a difference through my volunteer work by tutoring in both Punjabi and English.

This has allowed me to connect with a more diverse range of students and provide them with the necessary support to achieve their academic goals.

Tutoring Approach

As a tutor, I believe that an effective tutoring style is one that is tailored to the individual needs and learning style of each student. My approach to tutoring involves combining in-depth examples of problems with overviews of general techniques and material, along with focused practice through homework assignments that target weaker areas.

In-depth examples of problems are an important part of my tutoring style, as they allow students to gain a deep understanding of the material. By breaking down complex problems and concepts into manageable pieces, students can more easily grasp the fundamental principles underlying the subject matter.

Additionally, I find that providing overviews of general techniques and material can help students to see the bigger picture and understand how different concepts are interconnected. This can lead to a more cohesive understanding of the subject, which can help students to retain information more effectively.

Homework assignments are another important component of my tutoring style. By assigning focused practice problems that target weaker areas, students can gain the confidence and skills needed to excel in the subject. Additionally, homework provides an opportunity for students to practice applying what they have learned in a real-world setting, which can be invaluable for their academic and professional development.
