Tutoring Experience

Over the past five years, I've dedicated myself to tutoring IB English, guiding over 100 students toward reaching their academic potential. I've had the pleasure of working with a diverse group of learners, each with their unique strengths and challenges. Besides focusing on essay writing and coursework, I've also honed their skills in critical reading and analysis, which I believe are fundamental to mastering the subject.


My teaching experience extends beyond Hong Kong as I've also worked as an ESL tutor in South Korea for a year, enriching my understanding of language teaching methodologies. I am gratified to have improved students' grades significantly and have always strived to instill a genuine love for the subject in them.

Tutoring Approach

My tutoring approach involves understanding the student's current level, identifying their strengths and weaknesses, and creating a tailored study plan. In English literature, we work on improving reading comprehension, critical analysis, and argumentation skills, supplemented by practice questions and timed essays. I provide constructive feedback and encourage students to self-reflect.


For Paper 1, we practice analyzing unseen text extracts, focusing on literary devices, tone, and style, gradually building up speed and confidence. For Paper 2, we delve into the prescribed texts, discuss themes and characters, and learn to construct coherent arguments. Whether preparing for an exam or a class presentation, I ensure my students are equipped with the necessary tools and skills.
