Tutoring Experience

With over nine years of experience in mathematics education, I have worked extensively with students across various curricula, specializing in IB Mathematics: Analysis and Approaches (HL & SL), IEB Mathematics, and Further Studies Mathematics (equivalent to A-Level Mathematics). As Head of Mathematics at Redhill School, I lead a team of seven teachers across two curricula, overseeing curriculum development, assessment design, and professional development. My role includes incorporating technology-enhanced learning through tools like GDC, MS Teams, GeoGebra, and Desmos to foster deeper conceptual understanding. Additionally, I have experience examining and moderating assessments, including Grade 12 IB marking, ensuring students are well-prepared for high-stakes exams.

Tutoring Approach

My tutoring approach focuses on developing a deep conceptual understanding of mathematics by emphasizing the "why" behind mathematical concepts rather than relying on rote memorization. I believe true mastery comes from making connections between ideas, fostering critical thinking, and strengthening problem-solving skills. My sessions are student-driven, adapting to each learner’s needs, pace, and areas for growth. I create a supportive and patient learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and engaging with challenging problems. By encouraging exploration and logical reasoning, I help students build confidence in their mathematical abilities, empowering them to approach complex questions with clarity and precision.
