Tutoring Experience

I have experience working alongside English teachers in secondary school to support students in reaching their full potential, working with students both one-on-one in class and out of school hours. I have worked as a secondary school librarian and helped students between the ages of 11 and 16 complete work for a variety of subjects before, after and during school.

When it comes to studying the arts, I strongly believe that students learn best when they are able to formulate their own genuine response and connection to a subject, enabled through the development of comprehension and close reading skills that they can apply in any encounter with a text.

When it comes to exam preparation, I draw closely from past papers and examiners reports to ensure that students are able to demonstrate their talent in a way that will be recognised and rewarded by examiners.

I help students to develop a writing style that expresses their own views while meeting assessment objectives, working with a focus on the subject terminology that is vital for picking up marks in an examination.
