Common Factors and Multiples

Definition and Identification

Rational and Irrational Numbers

Rational Numbers

  • Identifying Rational Numbers: A number is rational if you can express it as a fraction.

Irrational Numbers

  • Irrational Numbers cannot be expressed as a fraction with integer numerators and denominators.

Reciprocals

Understanding Reciprocals

  • A reciprocal of a number is obtained by dividing 1 by that number.
    • For example, the reciprocal of 5 is 15\dfrac{1}{5}.
  • Identifying Reciprocals: To find the reciprocal of a fraction, invert it. For whole numbers, place them as the denominator with 1 as the numerator.
