How do magnetic levitation trains work?

Maglev trains operate based on the principle of magnetic levitation. This is a method by which an object is suspended in the air with no support other than magnetic fields. The magnetic force counteracts the effects of the gravitational force, and any other forces, making the train 'float' above the track.

The main components of a maglev train are its large electrically powered magnets. There are two sets of these magnets.
