This slows down the rate of transpiration. On the other hand, in dry conditions, the concentration gradient is steeper, leading to a higher rate of transpiration.

Wind speed can also affect the rate of transpiration. When the wind speed is high, it quickly moves the humid air away from the leaf surface, maintaining a steep concentration gradient and thus increasing the rate of transpiration. However, if the wind speed is too high, it can cause the stomata to close to prevent excessive water loss, thereby reducing the rate of transpiration.
